KIMCHI, S.C. (AP) — Kimchi cosmetics company owner Miranda Kerr has a long history of using questionable ingredients in her products.
Now, her business is under fire from consumer groups for not providing her with a list of ingredients to support her claim that the brand’s Korean-style products are safe for children.
“I think the worst thing is not being given the ingredients,” Kerr told the Charleston County Herald.
“There are no safe and effective ingredients, they’re all over the place.
There are many things that can be used in a child-friendly product, and that’s why we have to have the ingredient list.”
Kerr said she didn’t get the ingredients from a certified health authority and was told by several people at her store, Kimchi Cosmetic, that “there are no ingredients that are tested for safety.”
“The health experts told us there are no tests, no tests are required.
There is no way that it could be tested.
The only test is what people put in their mouths and lick their lips, so they can make a diagnosis,” Kerr said.”
So they said to us, ‘You know what, it’s not safe to use these products.
If you can’t tell whether a product is safe for a child, you can tell it’s safe for adults, you should give it to a parent.’
And they said, ‘Well, we can’t give it out, because the manufacturer’s not going to make it.'”
Kerr has also said her company, which was founded in 1873, has been working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to ensure that its products are tested to assure the safety of children.
The cosmetics company said in a statement to The Charleston Times that it is working with CDC officials to determine the source of the contamination.
Kerr and other South Carolina residents are angry that Kerr, who has been selling Kimchi makeup for more than 100 years, continues to sell the products without disclosing the ingredients she uses.
The FDA issued a warning about the products in August, saying the ingredients are “not FDA-approved for use by children or pregnant women.”
The company has not said whether it will change the list.
Kerr has been sued in South Carolina in two separate cases, with a third being pending.
In both cases, the suits say Kerr and her employees have violated the state’s Consumer Protection Act.
The lawsuits also say Kerr should not have been allowed to sell her products in South Carolinas stores, which are supposed to be child- and pregnant-friendly.
The companies’ parent company, American Cosmetics Inc., has not commented.
In a statement, American said it is “working with our supplier to determine if this was an isolated incident.”
Kerri said she hopes that people are educated and that people like her don’t buy products that are not tested.
Keri Kerr said that people should know about the ingredients of products before they buy them.
She said the ingredients list is not mandatory and is an industry practice.
“What’s not mandatory is knowing about the risks that can occur when you do things like that,” Kerr wrote.
“Because if you don’t know about that, you don and will make sure that your kids are protected.”
